CHATSWORTH monograde engine oils are meticulously crafted from a blend of carefully selected high-quality base oils and additives. These oils are purpose-built to deliver outstanding detergent and dispersant properties, surpassing the stringent requirements of U.S. Military MIL-L-2104B, API SD/CC, and Ford M2C-101B specifications. These specialized oils harken back to the heydays of the 1950s and 1960s when they were commonly used. They offer a distinct advantage for a wide range of motorcycles, automobiles, and classic commercial vehicles manufactured during that era. Even earlier vehicles can experience substantial benefits, including enhanced engine cleanliness and reduced wear. Please note that many post-vintage machines are equipped with engines that can accommodate modern shear-resistant multi-grade oils like Silkolene Comp 4 20W-50. If you decide to switch from a non-detergent to a detergent-based oil, it's essential to ensure that your seals are in good condition and that the internal components of your engine are clean and free from excessive deposits.
